Produce trucks selling vegetables grown on the "Sand Prairie" are a welcome sight in summer.

Sitting at the mouth of the Zumbro River on the "sand prairie" that rolls down to the Mississippi River miles away, Kellogg is great place to visit!  

Nature lovers will have a unqiue experience hiking in the 697-acre DNR Kellogg/Weaver Dunes area and the 592-acre Weaver Dunes Preserve, which is owned by the Nature Conservancy.  This tract of rolling sand dunes was formed by by the confluence of the Mississippi, Chippewa and Zumbro Rivers in prehistoric times.  The McCarthy Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) with its 3133 acres is adjacent to the west. And all three parcels areclose to the Upper Mississippi River Wildlife and Fish Refuge.  This adds up to unparalleled opportunities to view blue-winged teals, wood ducks, tundra swans, mallards, ring-necked pheasants, deer, wolf, fox, beaver, muskrat, mink, the occasional perigrine falcon and more.  

Nature isn't the only reason to visit Kellogg!  Lark Toys is one of the most unique shops in southeastern Minnesota.  This family-owned business has been offered remarkable toys---most notably handmade heirloom wooden toys---for a quarter-century.  It's 20,000 sq. ft. store has every type of toy.   And the Lark Toy Carousel is one-of-a-kind work of art. Each rideable animal was hand-carved from basswood and hand-painted.  And then there's the multi-colored waterfall and mini-golf! Just the place to bring your grandchildren... or shop for Christmas!

Looking for more?  SVJ Creative Designs is Minnesota’s largest manufacturer of quality cast stone products.   Vistors can stroll through a garden of concrete statuary pieces and view the entire Mississippi River Valley from the workshop/showroom, which sit at the top of the bluffs on State Hwy. 42.  Groups of 15 or more can arrange tours of the facility to see how these beautiful, durable pieces are cast, finished and painted. Other great places to visit include Cowpokes Western Shop, just up the road from SVJ Creative Designs.

In Kellogg, you won't want to miss dining at the Town & Country Cafe, where breakfast is always on... and desserts are the specialty! And you won't want to leave Kellogg with buying fresh, home-grown tomatoes, sweet corn and famous "Sand Prairie" melons---picked fresh from the fields that surround this small town! 


BusinessesKellogg's most unique business is Lark Toys, a one-stop shop for everything "kid"!  Lark Toys also boasts having a one-of-a-kind hand-carved carousel. And SVJ Creative Design has a large selection of cast and fabricated lawn ornaments and statury. For Visitors —There's one place you can get a great breakfast all day long—The Town & Country Cafe! Campsites are available in the DNR Kruger Management Area six miles away while B&B and motels can be found in Wabasha, another six miles from Kellogg. Things To Do The Kellogg Weaver Dunes are timeless!  If you love being outdoors, you should visit the Dunes!  If you're looking to relax, stop at The Country Inn, Stub's Bar & Grill or the Kellogg Liquor Store.
